629) Corruption UK Style: From Anonymous Desk Top Reviewers to Anonymous Property Owning Companies.
Jeremy Corbyn For Prime Minister:
Dear Mr Clark and Lord Tim Clement Jones
Anonymity has become the standard operating practice in England today.
From Anonymous Desk Top Reviewers who so often get it wrong when billing their patients for the cost of their nursing care to RICS regulated estate agents who are so accommodating when managing transactions for their Anonymous Overseas Property Speculators.
Transparency International - Faulty Towers Report:
Key Points.
- The London property market is highly vulnerable to corrupt wealth flowing in to it. Analysis of open source material found over £4.2 billion worth of properties bought with suspicious wealth.
Q. Mr Hunt, why are The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) not regulating this area of the property market? By failing to do so are they not directly contributing to this corrupt practice?
- Corruption causes high levels of instability abroad leading to 'crisis capital' being placed in safe havens like London. Since 2006 around £100 billion of hidden inflows have entered the UK.
Q. Mr Hunt, why is the British government colluding with this corruption?
- House prices are affected as illicit wealth and crisis capital entering the UK increase demand in the London housing market, particularly at the top end; 'the ripple effects they operate resonate across London.'
Q. Mr Hunt, by colluding with this corruption isn't government placing the interests of Russian oligarchs, Chinese super-rich businessmen, drug barons, international terrorists and Madonna above those ordinary hard working Londoners?
- New build developments are built targeting wealthy international investors and not meeting demand for affordable homes. In 14 landmark London developments almost 40% of future homes were bought by those from high corruption jurisdictions.
Q. Mr Hunt, shouldn't these properties be seized by government and used to house Londoners? The laundered money used to fraudulently purchase these properties could be returned to those jurisdictions when they are no longer high risk.
- London's role as a global safe haven is resulting in an under use of housing stock. Areas with higher levels of property owned by anonymous companies also have levels of abnormally low electricity usage, an indicator for empty or underused homes.
Q. Mr Hunt, why aren't these properties taken into ownership and given nurses, teachers, firefighters, junior doctors, refuse collectors...?
- Young people are moving out of London in record numbers due to the cost of housing. Over half of Londoners responding to our survey said wealthy overseas
investors are causing house prices to rise and more than 1 in 5 believed money laundering was a motivating factor for overseas investment.
We were told by Consumer Focus (who are sadly no longer with us) that RICS had developed practices that do not work in the customer's interests. Now it would appear, they've also developed practices do work in overseas customer's interests.
Q. Mr Hunt, when are you going to order a public inquiry into the RICS and its, "appointed" company - Ombudsman Services:Property?
Yours sincerely,
Steve Gilbert - Workstock number 510458.
