The tragically short life of Hind Rajab - 6 years old and murdered by the IDF R.I.P. - cannot be conveniently forgotten like yesterday's news. Or like the artwork of Gazan children removed from the walls of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital because it "upset" certain patients. Thankfully, Micheal Rosen's poem "Don't Mention the Children" prompts us to do the exact opposite - to keep mentioning them and to remember them for as long as we possibly can. In my career as a teacher of children with special educational needs I attended a number of funerals held for pupils who sadly, "failed to thrive." When my school closed and I retired I retrieved some of pupils' artwork from the school skip. Unable to get it to the rightful owners because of data protection issues - no matter how many times I tried, they now grace the walls of my home. This Wednesday's SNP motion for a ceasefire is of monumental significance and as one of your constituents I ask you to support it. And not abstain as you did last time. I read your press release on the issue and disagree with your reasons and conclusions. The vote is so important to me that I will be outside Parliament next Wednesday. Hind Rajab's short life has made me think about another injustice - Ombudsmen promising complainants a fair investigation of their cases and then doing the opposite. And so, in the lead up to the next General Election, I will be campaigning outside your offices in Frankfurt Gate for: a public inquiry into the ombudsinjustice at Ombudsman Services at the time of The Rev Lewis Shand Smith and Yvone Fovargue MP and Dame Helena Kennedy's part in its cover-up. Hind's artwork will never get to adorn the walls of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and enrich the lives of those fortunate enough to gaze upon them.
