53) Why Ombudism has hit the wall: consumers want proper solutions, not a broken cult.

Dear Mrs Leadsom,

Janet Daley's premium piece for the Telegraph is;

Why Corbynism has hit the wall: voters want proper solutions, not a coercive cult

For some strange reason the reader is treated to ten and three quarter pictures of herself. If you weren't hallucinating before you read her premium article you will be after. Factually accurate reportage is not her forte.

Property complainants taking their cases to Ombudsman Services could also try praying but it probably won't help them - according to MoneySavingExpert's Sharper Teeth: The Consumer Need For Ombudsman Reform, nearly 90% described the OS:Property Ombudsman's decision as being, "unfair."

Janet, "had a sudden flash of insight in the small hours of Friday morning. Laura Parker, the national coordinator of Momentum, was being interviewed on the BBC about Labour’s failure to take control in Wandsworth, one of the London crown jewels which it had hubristically vowed to win.
 

It was pointed out to Ms Parker that Labour had thrown absolutely everything into its fight for this borough, sending in platoons of tireless volunteers and senior party figures to knock on doors sometimes four or five times in a day. Why had all that effort come to nothing?
 

The platoons of those being what they want to see didn't succeed but it wasn't for lack of trying and did, "all that effort come to nothing" as Janet Daley would have us believe? The statistics suggest otherwise.
 

A even bigger flash of insight might have led her to check the facts.
According to Wikipedia and the Wandsworth Guardian: 2014 - Tory 41 Labour 19 by 2018 it was: Tory 33 Labour 26.
 

So all that effort did make a difference. Janet Daley has an almost ombudsman-like relationship to the facts and reality - they're both inconvenient and both get in the way of a good story. 

 

On she went, "She was utterly undaunted by this apparent humiliation. On the contrary, she was quite ecstatic about what she called their “fantastic, energetic... fortunately, it cut out at that point and our prayers were answered. 

 

Ombudsman Services have - contrary to OFT and Ombudsman Association requirements - produced NO statistics for the whole of 2017 and yet its CEO and Chief Ombudsman has indicated that his organisation intends to advise this government on regulation. 

 

Q. Mrs Leadsom, is an organisation that keeps hidden the fact that nearly 90% of its stock of work believe the solution they were handed was unfair, really one to advise this government on regulatory reform?
