To the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Secretary, andTo the Chair of Ombudsman Services. For Clarity - Attempt 598.Jeremy Corbyn For Prime Minister.598) "I Ain't Got No Home In This World Anymore" Bruce Springsteen. My brothers and sisters are stranded on this roadA hot and dusty road that a million feet have trodRich men took my home and drove me from my doorAnd I ain't got no home in this world anymore.Dear Mr Clark and Lord Tim Clement Jones,
The horrifying and heartbreaking outrage of Grenfell Tower should mark the end of a system that exists for the benefit of the rich and powerful and works to the detriment of all others.
The shoddy state of new housing with its largely worthless warrantees and poor regulation has been highlighted in, "Inquiry into the Quality of new Build Housing in England."
That Report, chaired by Oliver Colvile MP, raised issues that mirror our complaint about a regulator - The RICS - which one branch of government knows doesn't adequately regulate and yet which another branch continues to enjoy a close and continuing relationship with - a redress scheme funded by the very Members and (Un)Regulated Firms that RICS can't or won't regulate in the first place.
A redress scheme whose Chairman openly criticises complainants for complaining too strongly.
As for older housing stock especially the tower blocks, one can only feel for those forced to live in them.
Not only does this government fail to adequately regulate markets it hasn't got a clue who owns certain properties in one of its richest boroughs - Kensington and Chelsea.
What a total disgrace.
Recommendations:The victims of the Grenfell Tower outrage have a lasting memorial to them in Trafalgar Square. Those properties in Kensington and Chelsea that are owned by offshore companies are compulsorily purchased and given to the victims of the Grenfell Tower outrage.
