Ombudsman Services Pt 4: The Full English Cover-Up (83) "Engaged" And "Politically Influenced" Civil Servants Shred The Myth Of A Neutral British Civil Service
Dear Reader,
There must be a General Election in the offing as it's now the turn of our supposedly neutral civil service to put the boot in on Jeremy Corbyn.
Michael Foot had it easy in comparison but then times have changed.
The old hatreds are stronger. The new ones are equally as vicious. The tropes have been marshalled (marshaled for our readers in the USA) and passed fit for action along with their supporting vile slurs. Strange how slurs are always vile but stranger still is the decision of our taxpayer-funded civil service to join the fray.
Taxpayer-funded charities such as the CAA and CST paved the way with Left-hate-filled blogs (see Mark Gardner's) and a petition stating that "Jeremy Corbyn is an antisemite and unfit to hold any public office" (Why is the taxpayer funding this?) and clearly the civil service felt the need to join in.

None of these people are elected and thanks to the generosity of the taxpayer none of them have felt the need to tighten their belts because of the Tory and Coalition Government's policy of austerity. That and the need to be held to be held accountable has seemingly passed them by. And this is still called a democracy.
The civil service have prior form.
The RICS once proudly announced how they'd "engaged" and "politically influenced" senior civil servants viz The Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Bill. In "RICS Member Briefing - Lobbying Vince Cable To Fix The Letting Industry" they wrote;
"RICS has long campaigned for reform of the letting agent sector - achieving better regulation of the sector and eliminating the "cowboys" will ultimately deliver more and repeat business for our members and a better deal for consumers."
"RICS has long campaigned for reform of the letting agent sector - achieving better regulation of the sector and eliminating the "cowboys" will ultimately deliver more and repeat business for our members and a better deal for consumers."
Really? How about regulating your "cowboy" surveyors? Something Vince - sadly - wasn't interested in.
RICS continued;
"Over the past 18 months, RICS has undertaken a great deal of influencing work - both publicly and behind the scenes to drive home the need for change to govt and policy makers. This work has included events in Parliament, briefing of MPs, Ministers and Civil Servants."

When we later asked RICS' "politically influenced," "engaged" and "briefed" civil servants what on earth it was they were "monitoring" when the RICS' "appointed" company Ombudsman Services:Property failed for two years to produce an annual report be didn't get a reply. And this is supposed to be a democracy.
Martin Lewis in his whitewash report for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Consumer Protection stumbled across a consumer disapproval rate of nearly 90% for Ombudsman Services:Property but didn't think it worth commenting on. We did.
He didn't answer our questions. Yvonne Forvague, Chair of Committee, didn't answer our questions either. And this is supposed to be a democracy.
We've been trying to drive home the need for 21st century standards of transparency and accountability and the need to round up all those cowboys. No success so far.
The Ombudsmans61percent Campaign is seeking:
1. A public inquiry into Ombudsman Services:Property and the role of The RICS.
2. Compensation for the ombudsman's illogical Final Decisions and the executives' maladministration.
3. The setting up of a state-run, fair, independent, transparent and accountable ADR scheme.
